Cement-Based Crystalline Waterproof Coating
Younson cement-based crystalline waterproof coating is a rigid waterproof material formulated from portland cement, quartz sand, and various active chemical agents. When mixed with water, it forms a slurry that can be applied to concrete surfaces. Upon curing, the coating forms a rigid, adherent layer. The active chemicals in the coating penetrate into the concrete through water transport, catalyzing the formation of insoluble crystals in the concrete’s silicate structure, which fill and seal capillary pores and microcracks, thus enhancing the density and water resistance of concrete.
Product Features
- Exceptional water pressure resistance, strong penetration, and long-lasting self-healing capability.
- Provides breathability, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, and reinforcement protection for embedded steel.
- Environmentally friendly and non-toxic; highly compatible with other materials.
- Simple and time-saving application.
Application Areas
- Suitable for cement mortar and new or existing concrete structures, both on the water-facing and back-facing sides.
- Common applications: basements, subways, bathrooms, kitchens, reservoirs, swimming pools, water storage buildings, culverts, and concrete pavements.
Executive Standards
- GB 18445-2012 《Cement-Based Crystalline Waterproof Material》
Construction Methods
1. Brush Method
- Substrate Preparation:
- Remove laitance, efflorescence, dust, oil, and other debris.
- Roughen the surface to fully open the capillary system for better penetration.
- Rinse thoroughly with high-pressure water.
- Remove laitance, efflorescence, dust, oil, and other debris.
- Surface Moistening:
- Keep the substrate moist but free of standing water.
- Keep the substrate moist but free of standing water.
- Mixing:
- Mix powder and water in a weight ratio of powder:water = 1:(0.35–0.4).
- Add powder to water and stir mechanically until uniform.
- Use the mixture within 20 minutes; do not add water during use.
- Mix powder and water in a weight ratio of powder:water = 1:(0.35–0.4).
- Application:
- Apply multiple even coats using a stiff brush.
- After each coat dries and appears whitish, apply the next coat.
- If the interval exceeds 12 hours, mist the surface with water before the next coat.
- Apply multiple even coats using a stiff brush.
- Curing:
- Keep the coating moist for at least 72 hours using misting or wet cloth; 7 days is ideal.
- Keep the coating moist for at least 72 hours using misting or wet cloth; 7 days is ideal.
2. Dry Sprinkle Method
- Evenly sprinkle dry powder on fresh, unset concrete using a sieve.
- Immediately press into the surface using a trowel or polishing machine.
- Recommended dosage: ≥1.5 kg/m² for 1.0 mm thick coating.
Construction Notes
- Substrate must be fully wetted; sprinkle water on dry surfaces.
- Ensure sufficient material usage: ≥1.5 kg/m² per 1.0 mm coating thickness.
- Strict curing procedures must be followed for optimal waterproof performance.
Transportation and Storage
- Packaged in plastic buckets or valve bags.
- Store different types and specifications separately; avoid mixing.
- Protect from sunlight, rain, and moisture.
Shelf life under normal transport and storage conditions: 12 months.
Construction Timing / Usage
- Primary Use: New Construction / Pre-Construction (applied on new concrete structures for long-term waterproofing)
- Secondary Use: Post-Construction / Repair & Renovation (can be applied on existing concrete to enhance water resistance and seal microcracks)
